As at May 2003 the Kistler Group has taken over all of the activities of Velos Messsysteme GmbH, near Darmstadt, Germany. Velos, a company which was developed from the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, is a world-famous leading manufacturer of wheel force measuring systems. Other specialties of Velos include extremely sophisticated measuring system solutions for testing or fine-tuning the suspensions of Formula 1 vehicles on the racetrack as well as system solutions for special vehicles such as heavy lorries or earth-movers. Kistler, the number 1 in wheel force measuring technology, is therefore extending its range of products for wheel force measuring systems in those niches, in which the company was previously unable to offer any solutions, thus making it an all-round supplier in this sector of the market. 

Velos is the second company to have been integrated within a year into the Kistler Group’s vehicle measuring technology sector, with the synergies between all three companies being highly rated. Velos’ experience in the field of measuring technology with strain gages is an excellent addition to the know-how already existing within the Kistler Group. 

In the medium-term Velos Messsysteme GmbH will be integrated into the existing application center for vehicle measuring technology in Schönaich near Stuttgart, Germany. This move will not jeopardize any jobs.
